the mountain in a nutshell.

So like... is there ANYTHING more epic than skiing on a volcano? We're not too sure there is, and if you don't believe us it sounds like you'll just have to take a trip to Bend, Oregon to visit Mt. Bachelor to find out yourself. This ski resort packs a wallop of acreage (4,318 to be precise) making it one of the largest ski areas in the American Pacific Northwest. Oh and the snow? Probably the best found in the PNW, nice light fluffy powder, unlike the area's more common infamous cascade concrete.

So why isn't Mt. Bachelor a household name? Well to start, it's not your typical ritzy vacation spot. Mt. Bachelor doesn't even bother with on-mountain accommodations, making it more of a day-tripping haven. In fact, Mt. Bachelor doesn't even throw around the term "resort" - it's as unresorty as it gets, much to the delight of the locals who prefer things down-to-earth, unpretentious, and dormant (looking at you mr. volcano).
