the mountain in a nutshell.

If you took Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk and combined them together they still wouldn't be as large as Snowmass with its beefy 3,339 acres of fun. That's why we are giving this quarter of the four Aspen Snowmass resorts its own feature.

It should come as no surprise that a resort this large has some nicely varied terrain including one of the only blue trails in North America that requires hiking to get to named "Long Shot". Beyond the intermediate runs there is a nice mix of single-blacks spanning the resort's 4,406' of vertical. You'll find amazing glades and moguls for those of you that hate your knees, but unfortunately the resort is lacking a bit on the above-treeline skiing (but hey, Aspen Highlands is literally right down the road). The high-alpine that Snowmass does have is extremely steep and widely renowned for being shark infested with rocks, but that doesn't mean some gnarly lines don't exist there! Once you get over the cost of everything in the area, there are very few negatives to this well-rounded resort except for its absolute nightmare of a parking lot. But if the parking is the only downside to your day of skiing, you know you did something right!
