the essentials.
What exactly is a Little Big Mountain model?
Our models are framed 3D miniatures of iconic ski resorts and mountains, created from authentic topographic data and hand-finished in a clean, matte white plaster. They make excellent décor pieces for any true mountain lover.
Are they just 3D printed?
No.
We use 3D technology only to create an accurate mold from real terrain data, but that's just step one. From there, we hand-pour plaster, refine every edge by hand, and frame each model with care.
The result is a solid, stone-like object that feels intentional and timeless, not disposable.
Do you make custom models?
We currently only offer custom models for bulk or wholesale orders. We are not set up for one-off custom pieces.
That said, we actively review submissions through our mountain request portal, and popular requests help shape future releases.
Are the peaks labelled?
To preserve the minimalist aesthetic, we don't add labels or nameplates directly to the model.
Each piece instead comes with a Discovery Card that highlights key peaks and information about the mountain model.
Do you do wholesale orders?
Yes!
We work with retailers, resorts, and corporate partners on wholesale and bulk orders. Pricing depends on quantity, customization, and lead time.

How accurate are the models?
Our models are built using real topographic satellite data, so the contours and layouts reflect true geography. In some cases, we apply subtle vertical exaggeration to enhance depth and visual impact, while keeping the mountain geographically accurate.
Why do some models have vertical exaggeration?
Humans naturally perceive mountains as steeper and taller than they are. This is due to a well-documented psychological effect called action-scaled perception, where our brains exaggerate vertical landscapes based on effort, exposure, and physical experience.
Vertical exaggeration allows the model to reflect how the mountain feels to experience, not just how it measures. The result is a form that aligns with lived perception, capturing the drama, presence, and emotional scale of the mountain rather than a purely technical profile.
What are the mountain models made of?
Each mountain is plaster-cast, giving it a solid, stone-like weight and a clean matte white finish designed to age beautifully over time.
Are the models handmade?
Yes. Every Little Big Mountains piece is handcrafted, cast in plaster, and finished individually.
How long does it take to make a model?
Almost every model is made to order. Production typically takes about one week to cast, dry, assemble, and prepare for shipping. This can vary slightly from model to model.
What comes with each mountain model?
Every order includes the framed mountain model and a Discovery Card showcasing key peaks and details about the terrain, and one of our holographic stickers.
What is the Protect Our Winters donation about?
We donate $5 from every mountain sold to Protect Our Winters, supporting their work in protecting the environment of places we all love to explore.
How often do you release new mountains?
We typically release new mountains once or twice per year. Recent collections have included East Coast American mountains and select Vancouver-area peaks like Grouse, Seymour, and Cypress.

display, styling, & care.
How should the models be displayed?
Our models can be laid flat, propped up, or hung on the wall. How you display your mountain is entirely up to you!
Where do people usually display them?
Customers commonly display them on shelves, coffee tables, desks, consoles, or as part of a gallery wall.
Are these only for mountain homes or cabins?
Not at all. Little Big Mountains are designed as minimalist art pieces that work just as well in city apartments, offices, studios, and modern homes.
How should I care for my mountain model?
We recommend keeping it indoors and dusting gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, cleaning sprays, or abrasive materials to preserve the plaster finish.
