Canada is renowned for its beautiful mountains – for those living in Toronto though… hey, this is the best we’ve got. The blue mountains are home to five ski resorts, Blue Mountain, open to the public and Craigleith, Osler Bluffs, Alpine and Georgian Peaks reserved for private members. With only 220 metres (720 ft) of vertical and a season that is over before it barely starts the manufactured snow and ice covered blue mountains are nothing to scoff at. A racing hub for Canada’s most populous province, the blue mountains have produced world class athletes from the “Crazy Canucks” Todd Brooker to the current super G world championship gold medal holder James Crawford.
Blue Mountain is also home to the most dangerous run in Canada – Happy Valley – where the hazard is not the mountain itself, but the morass of Jerry’s cramming its gentle slope. It might be small, there might be dirt patches on the runs, the lift lines might be heinously long on weekends – but is OURS Ontario.
